I guess we can express our views on this board as well. I wasn't very impressed by the logo on the sale items. You might want to think about beefing it up a little. It was kinda drab. I wouldn't wear it, and I consider myself to be a rather trendy person. The "trucker" hats were particularly a turn off unless you're a red-neck truck driver-- no offense if you are. Also, blue and white with plain lettering is not impressive. There's nothing to catch your attention and say, "Hey, I want that logo on my chest for the world to see!" You know? Not trying to be negative, just know what sells. Need different logo and make it more pronounced (bigger maybe center it) on t-shirts. Leave polos alone as far as positioning of logo. Any other opinions? Haven't any of yal had any university training for this kind of stuff or had poles to see what works before you produce it? Makes business sense to me, anyway, to test market. Have you thought of hiring a business consultant or a marketer? It may help. It sure can't hurt with only 6 members.

---Well since you didnt leave your name and want remain annoymous we will just call you "trendy". We do agree though that the logo needs some work it has just taken a back seat to the many other projects including the videos we are shooting

--I dont think that would accurately describe me, but never the less these style hats were popular in the late 70s and 80s when arcade games began to surface and their popularity grew. Its a retro look not intended for younger audiences. The first pac man hats all looked like that.

---Sounds good like I said this is a hobby and not a business, but new logos have always been in the works. Some of the ideas we have dicussed are shirts like "you might be a game collector if..." and some other ideas not patented yet

Makes business sense to me, anyway, to test market. Have you thought of hiring a business consultant or a marketer? It may help. It sure can't hurt with only 6 members.

---there is no over head or inventory tied up at all we use a company that makes the stuff per order. Actually we just wanted a couple of notebooks or mousepad, but got carried away when we went to the site. All they do is have the items there and when someone orders something they make them we get a very small markup. On our end there is zero to invest and zero to loose so that starts us up breaking even. Now if I wanted to sell tshirts more than fix and make arcade games the above would sound like a good plan and for sure needed. I do have a paypal account though if you want to invest in such ventures for us.

I just don't see it on TV or in popular magazines or where I live(which I guess you may think isn't saying much). I realize that memorabilia is back in style, but it's not all back in style but I do get your point where the "hats" are concerned. As far as this being a "hobby" for you, if that's the case then why are you trying to market a product like your "mame machine" and your "store" items. Sounds like you're trying to make it more than a hobby. Quit lying to yourself and get out there and start this right. You could probably make a real go at it. Seems like you're trying to do that now. You have to remember that you have to apply what you've studied at "MIT". Just because you've learned it doesn't mean to keep it in your head. You have to apply it to your business. And your last comment about the paypal sounded sarcastic so I guess I offended you. I apologize, wasn't trying to do that. Just that you asked for opinions and suggestions on your site. Just giving mine. If you don't want them then you should remove the request from your site. P.S. ---thats my point its not my product its the site we use...its FREE to me. If I dont sell anything I loose nothing. The trucker hat was just something we got a kick out of, but if you really want to see some people wearing them just watch videos on MTV or go to an arcade auction. Its really all in fun. Our main goal was to make a tshirt or something that we could wear to auctions or when we go to repair games. Then we found this site and just picked a few things for fun. The only make a hat or shirt when its ordered and they collect the money. We get a very small mark up back. We dont really care at this point if we sell any or not just having the stuff on the site was the hard part we can go in and change the logos at any time. So if you have any good ideas please present them.

I have about 20 games to work on at this time plus a local guy has about 50 he would like for me to work on so it really wouldnt make much sense to market much more when I have more than I can do at this moment since I work about 70 hours a week as it is. Still I see your point if its on the shelf it should be for sell and soemthing folks would want.

Now to the important questions: Do you own any video or pinball games? What brought you to the site in the first place? Do you need help with Mame? Is there a particular game you would like to own and need help finding? Are you really interested in purchasing some higher quality cooler arcade memorabillia or tshirts? www.arcadeshirts.com would be a good start.

Is there a particular game you would like to own and need help finding? Actually, I was looking for some safe sites for my kids to browse. About all I remember is Frogger on Atari. LOL They are so into all this new stuff. My 16-year old is planning on college and starting a business of her own. Her brothers are so into arcades and video games that they were or are going to do it together. She run the business and they work on the machines. You know how kids make plans. Well, we encourage them to dream big. It's just so hard to find a decent site for them to view. I thought this might be it, you just starting yours up and all. I was just listening to my kids when they were looking at this one the other day and actually telling you what their opinions were. (They're not allowed to post messages-- can't be too careful!!for obvious reasons) Anyway, this one is probably not going to be appropriate for them because of some of the language and name calling (then again that can be kids for you too. I pray that I've instilled better values into ours though). Sorry to have bothered you. Again I apologize for interrupting your hobby. I do wish you the best in your endeavors and thank you for the information for an alternate site. Maybe I'll try that one. Feel free to delete this whole post to free up space for more important questions

---Sorry for that choice of words...I never considered it a cuss word but in fairness since you do I will not use such again:) But where did you get the idea that this is a Kid geared site? Its definitely an adult site about restoring classic video games in particular those from the 1980s before most kids were born.
For kids games you should check this site:

--maybe it does, but then again maybe my clientel are a lot more interested in my craftmanship building games then they are at how well I spell. We use a spell checker. You must be a die hard democrat. Ten billion problems in the world today and you are worried about some misspelled words? Reminds me of a lesson we learned in sunday school and I paraphrase...dont look at the spec in someones eye if you have a board sticking out of yours. My email is on this site..if you wanted to help why didnt you just email me with the mispelled words in private so we could fix them? Instead you had to come in here and post such things in front of my friends. We may have only 7 members, but I know them all and do business with them. I bet you are the kind of person who anxiously fills out a comment card to report bad service or problems with a restraunt, but never writes in when good service is received or compliments them.

---as protective as you seem to be you need to go to the arcades and see what kind of games kids play these days....the ones that make money are bloody, violent, profanity laced, and demeaning. Even games at CEC teach kids to punch, hit, and some even curse. Is this a business you want your kids to participate in? As you told me once "quit lying to yourself"...your kids are probably no where near the angels you think. Thats why I prefer the classic arcades such as pac man, donkey kong, centipede etc. and am trying to preserve them. While most kids where getting into drugs or gangs I was in the arcade battling aliens and thus this hobby was born.
Just seems like you came in here pointing the finger without showing any knowledge of my hobby or respect for the hard work we put into this site.

--Well then here is some advice for you: When you enter a persons forum its considered rude to post without announcing who you are and to start being judgemental on their hard work... pass that lesson along to your kids and they will be the wiser for it.

--Not for a while this thread has been the best entertainment this group has had in some time. It also humbles me to see how far we have come and still so far to go.
