Hi Y'all, I wanted to introduce myself. I am here because I have been bitten by the classic arcade restoration bug. Actually, I have been wanting to do this for some time but never seemed to be able to get around to it. That ended about a month ago when I bought and old Pacman upright from a guy in Baton Rouge. I have been having a blast restoring and playing this thing ever since. I paid $600.00 and it was in working order, but the first thing I did was buy a 16 in 1 multi-pac module which I nervously installed. Next I took the non-working, third party coin door and mechs off and replaced it with an original ms. pacman door with lamped coin signs and got that working. Also had to put on a new lock and key set. (the girlfriend hates having to pay to play now! ;D j/k) The only thing not working on the door at the moment is the tilt switch. Not sure how to test it to see if it is the wiring or the switch itself. After that, I bought a lamped button kit from Bob Roberts which I installed. I know some purists will have a problem with that but d**n it looks good. I am ordering some orange t-molding this weekend from t-molding.com and then I plan to buy and air brush and redo the original artwork. I look forward to reading all of your posts. Bitnerd

Bitnerd,
That is awesome! Great Work! No one can appreciate work like that more than Tim and myself. We love to work on Pac Mans because parts are easy to find and tech support is easy to get.
The Multi-Pac kits are great! We're actually thinking about putting one into our Pac Man, however, time has been short lately with all the projects that we have going on including our MAME Flat project.
Good Luck with the rest of your restoration and keep us posted!
Also, if you're every in the Tyler, Texas area. Let us know, you can come on by and check out the game room. Check out the Web Site for some pics.

Thanx Bro, you are right, it is easy to work on pacs because there is lots of support out there and wiring is rather simplistic. That is why I decided to make a pacman my first project. I have a gutted out Ms Pacman that I think I am going to take the MAME route though. I have a new book on order at Barnes & Noble on Mame projects. As soon as I get that, I am going to start work on it. Thanx again for the welcome and I love your board and forum.

Sounds like you are off to a great start though. Tim

Oh please dont put mame in ms pac... there is too much demand to keep them original plus they are not good mame cabinets. I would love to have a gutted ms pac to restore though if you want to trade for something or a cabinet that would be more suited for mame...let me know Tim

In my opinion the non dedicated dynamo cabinets that have a base the control panel sits on are the best but if you can find one thats been converted and not damage the original then TMNT and NBA Jams seem to work great especially for 4 player mames. 25inch moniotr minimum also. Tim
